My first day in San Francisco started out early and ended in my crashing for the night; amazing how planes just mentally exhaust me. We raced to get up, changed, breakfast eaten and out the door to the airport for 8:20 so I could catch my morning flight, but of course my flight had to be delayed due to “weather” in SF. I’ve never been on a flight where the thought, “We’re going to crash,” like the takeoff from Seattle. We dropped so hard my stomach was in my mouth. Luckily the flight, unlike the takeoff was uneventful and I arrived in sunny SF. What was wrong with the weather that we were delayed?
My first greeting in the city was, “Hey baby girl, why so glum?” What is with Californians calling me baby girl, I had that back in LA. Luckily with my good sense of direction and knowing a rough idea of where the hostel was, I made my way and arrived hot and sticky. Just an fyi – SF is a lot warmer then Seattle in February, long johns and cashmere sweaters are not needed!
Did I mention I arrived an hour before they could turn on the water pumps for the showers due to maintenance? Good timing there Heather, sticky red faced timing. Luckily my friend in Daly City happened to be getting out of school at that time, so we headed out to a Chinese Buffet for dinner. I believe everyone should try something at least once before giving a yay or nay opinion. After trying my first bowl of “fin” soup, I can confidently tell you it is the most gelatinously disgusting thing I have ever eaten.
Now frog legs, those taste like chewy chicken.
Hey Heather,
as a fellow photog, newly turned paleo/primal eater, wife of a B.C. boy who lives in SFO; I would love to meet up and show you some of the cool eateries and tea shops. let me know if you have any interest.
Cheers
-Shannon
Hi Shannon, Thank you for your generous offer, but I’m actually in the Europe part of my trip now. Just horribly delayed in posting, maybe next time I’m in SFO?
